Home grown solutions Archive

Home grown solutions are referred to as culturally owned practices translated into sustainable development programs - or - a set of development programs inspired by traditional culture and practice. These programs are often credited as being a participatory development approach to poverty reduction. Their common trait is that all have been created in the post genocide era, as a way to face the consequences of war and the 1994 genocide against Tutsi which were present in every aspect of Rwandans’ lives. The programs such as Gacaca court process, Ubudehe, Umushyikirano have been put in place as helping in justice, economic development, and good governance fields respectively.
